1. Who I am

Andy Hook Flooring is run by Andy Hook, a sole trader based in Portree on the Isle of Skye. I fit flooring across Skye and Lochalsh. I am responsible for the personal information you give me, and this page explains what I do with it.

2. What information I collect

I only collect what I need to quote for, plan and carry out your flooring job.

  • Contact details: your name, email address and phone number.

  • Job details: the property address, room sizes, measurements, notes about the floor and any photos you send.

  • Booking and payment details: job dates, invoices and payment records. I don't store your card or bank details.

  • Messages: emails, texts and form enquiries you send me.

You give me this when you fill in a form on my website, email or phone me, or book through Harris Home Furnishings.

3. How I use it

  • Replying to your enquiry and giving you an estimate: because you asked me to (steps before a contract).

  • Planning, booking and fitting your floor: to carry out our agreement.

  • Sending invoices and keeping business records: because the law requires me to keep tax records.

  • Aftercare advice and fixing any problems later: to carry out our agreement and my workmanship guarantee.

  • Occasionally asking for a Google review: a legitimate business interest. You can say no at any time.

I never sell your details or use them for marketing lists.

4. Who I share it with

I only share what each of these needs to do their part:

  • Harris Home Furnishings, Edinbane: they supply the materials for my jobs, so they get your name, address and job details.

  • My accountant or bookkeeper: for tax and business records.

  • Services I use to run the business: Squarespace (website and forms), Google Workspace (email, calendar and files) and Cozi (job booking calendar). They store data on my behalf and don't use it for themselves.

Some of these services may store data outside the UK. Where they do, they use the legal safeguards UK data protection law requires.

5. How long I keep it

  • Enquiries that don't go ahead: deleted within 12 months.

  • Jobs I've carried out: kept for as long as HMRC requires for tax records, usually around 6 years, and to cover my 3-year workmanship guarantee.

  • Photos of finished floors: I may keep these for my portfolio, but never with your name or address unless you say it's fine.

6. Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask me to:

  • show you the information I hold about you

  • correct anything that's wrong

  • delete your details, unless I have to keep them for tax records

  • stop using them for something, such as review requests

Just email or phone me. I'll reply within one month.

If you're unhappy with how I've handled your information, please talk to me first. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

7. Cookies

My website runs on Squarespace, which uses a few cookies to make the site work and to show me basic, anonymous visitor numbers. You can control cookies in your browser settings.

8. Changes to this policy

I may update this page from time to time, and the date at the top will always show the latest version. Any questions, get in touch at ahf@andyhookflooring.co.uk or on 07799 346 254.
